Family preservation is a movement to keep families safely together instead of placing children in foster care or group homes. It started out of the recognition that separation from a parent causes significant trauma that can have long-term effects on a child’s life. It is grounded in a strength-based, solution-focused framework that empowers families to increase resiliency skills during a time of crisis. This training provides an overview of family preservation movement in Michigan.
